So, you've been doing some online shopping and using my favorite rebate site Rakuten to earn some cash back on your purchase! Awesome. Now, you want to know when you are going to receive your Big Fat Check payment and how you are going to receive it.

In this post, I will be sharing the Rakuten Payment Schedule with you as well as all of the payment options available for receiving your cash back.
Rakuten Big Fat Check Payment Schedule
Rakuten pays out their confirmed cash back rebates every three months, as long as you have a minimum of $5.01 in your cash back account.
The 4 payment dates for Rakuten are:
- February 15
- May 15
- August 15
- November 15
Any rebates you have earned and have been confirmed will be paid out on the next payment date.
Cash back earned and/or confirmed between November 15 – February 14th will be paid out on February 15th.
Cash back earned and/or confirmed between February 15 – May 14th will be paid out on May 15th.
Cash back earned and/or confirmed between May 15 – August 14th will be paid out on August 15th.
Cash back earned and/or confirmed between August 15 – November 14th will be paid out on November 15th.
Below, you can see my current cash back balance for the period of February 15th – May 14th, that will be paid out on May 15th.
The Office Depot order took a long time to confirm, which is why it is in my May payment, instead of my previous November payment.
Now that you know when you will be paid out by Rakuten for your earned cash back, let's take a look at how you can/will be paid.
Rakuten Big Fat Check Payment Options
There are currently 3 ways you can get your cash back check from Rakuten.
- Big Fat Check – yes, an actual paper check sent in the mail that you will cash at your bank
- Paypal – direct deposit paid to the Paypal account you have on file
- American Express Points – convert your cash back to American Express member points
I've been a member of Rakuten since the only option for cash back payment was a paper check!
Since they added Paypal as a payment option, I have been using that to receive my cash back payments.
Changing Your Rakuten Payment Selection
To see what your current pay out options are set to and to make any desired changes, go to the Account Settings sections of your Rakuten account.
Next, go to the section that says “How would you like to get paid?” and make your payment selection.
How Long Does It Take To Get Rakuten Cash Back?
Once you have made a purchase online (or in store) using Rakuten, you should see the cash back in your account within a few days. Sometimes, the cash-back shows up in just a few minutes, and other times in a few hours.
If you ever find that anticipated cash back is not showing up, Rakuten actually makes it really easy to let them know and get the missing cash back.
I've had to do this before and got the cash-back the same day as I opened the case with them.
Does Rakuten Actually Pay Cash Back?
If you've never actually gotten a payment from Rakuten, you may be wondering if they actually pay out the rebates that they say they will. Or, maybe you are asking yourself if Rakuten is a scam?
Well, I can say with 100% confidence that they DO pay out the rebates that they say they will!
